Welcome to Wandr knives.

Hi my name is Wendell and I want to tell you how I got into bladesmithing.

Before I got into bladesmithing I was blacksmithing and I got the interest for that when I was a kid when I went on a field trip to my hometowns history museum where there was a blacksmith putting on a demonstration. As you can imagine I was mesmerized by it and it was what I wanted to do from then on out.

Unfortunately at the time it was not possible for me to do. As I got older years later I slowly forgot about it until I saw a movie that totally sucked me back into it again. Unfortunately I still was not able to get into it because of certain circumstances but this time I would not forget. I started reading books and watching videos just absorbing information on blacksmithing and a little bladesmithing here and there.

I finally got to a point in my mid 20’s where I was making enough money to start this hobby. Once I started, it just kept going from there. From forging in my fire pit with charcoal and a mattress pump and a railroad track as an anvil to building my own coal forge and a big old anvil.

I was blacksmithing for the first 2 years of forging, making fire place set to hooks to leafs and so on. The basic you learn when you start blacksmithing.

After that I got interested in bladesmithing. So I took a class and it snowballed from there. I loved how much you can use your imagination. From damascus to the handle material to sheath making.

I am now at the point where I’m getting ready to go full time into bladesmithing as it is something that gets me excited to work.

I am also sharing what I learn on YouTube. I found out I had a knack for editing video’s so I decided to use that for YouTube. As most bladesmith YouTubers are pretty experienced at their craft I wanted to show starting from a beginner in a small shed to an experienced bladesmith in a nice workshop someday… hopefully. So I hope you follow me on my journey.
